# Set taxes and payment terms

> Add sales taxes and additional taxes, choose payment terms, and set the customer balance and payment method of a quote

The bottom of the **Quote** section holds the summary, with the taxes and global discounts, and the payment panel, with the payment schedule and terms shown to your customer.

## Prerequisites

* The quote is editable
* Taxes, payment terms, and payment methods exist in **Settings › Workspace** and, for terms and methods, are added to the quote's template (**Terms** tab)

## Taxes

By default, each line uses its product's tax, shown as **Default product tax** in the **Taxes** block.

### Add a sales tax

**1. Open Add sales tax**

In the summary, click **Sales tax**.

**2. Pick the tax**

Select the **Tax** and click **Add**.

To replace it later, click the **Switch sales tax** icon, choose another **Tax**, and click **Switch**. Use the delete icon to remove it.

### Add an additional tax

Additional taxes are added on top of the sales tax, for example an eco-tax.

**1. Open Add additional tax**

Click **Additional tax**.

**2. Fill in the tax**

Select the **Tax**, then enter the **Quantity** and **Value**. Click **Add**.

Click an additional tax to change it in **Edit additional tax**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If you switch to a pricebook in another currency, additional taxes that don't exist in the new currency are removed after a confirmation.

## Payment terms

The payment panel applies to the one-off part of the quote.

**1. Choose the payment terms**

In **Payment Terms (one-off)**, select one of the terms offered by the template, **Custom**, or **None**. Terms set to **Always displayed** in the template are already selected.

**2. Set the first invoicing date**

In **First invoicing date (one-off)**, choose **Sign day**, **Delay** (a number of days after signature), or **Date**.

**3. Check the schedule**

The table lists each installment with its **Due Date**, **Amount excl. tax**, **Tax**, and **Amount Due**.

### Use custom payment terms

Select **Custom** (or **Update custom** to change them). In **Custom payment terms (one-off)**, define the percentage and due date of each installment; the total must equal 100%. Click **Save**.

## Analytics summaries

The **Analytics summaries** tabs show the **First payment**, the **Yearly summary** (one-time and recurring fees per year), and the **Total contract value**. Turn on **Display first payment**, **Display yearly summary**, or **Display total contract value** to show them to your customer.

## Customer balance

Use the customer balance to apply a credit or a debit to the first payment, for example a credit note.

1. In the **First payment** tab, click **Credit / debit**.
2. In **Add Credit / Debit**, enter a **Name**, choose the **Type** (**Credit** or **Debit**), and enter the **Amount**.
3. Click **Add**.

## Payment method and specific terms

* **Payment method**: select the payment methods offered to the customer, among those of the template. The customer sees "We accept payment via…" in the Dealroom.
* **Specific terms**: free text shown to the customer, prefilled from the template's **Default specific terms**.

Click **Save** in the header when you're done.
