# Create a workspace

> Add a new workspace to your Qwoty organisation.

Create a new workspace when part of your business needs its own settings, catalogs, templates, and quotes, for example a new country or a separate sales entity.

## Before you start

* You need a role with the **Organization** and **Workspace** settings permissions.
* Your subscription must include multiple workspaces. If it doesn't, the **New** button shows a lock: "Your plan does not include multiple workspaces. Upgrade to add more." See [Subscription and seats](https://docs.qwoty.io/user-guide/settings/organisation/subscription-and-seats.md).

## Create the workspace

**1. Open the organisation settings**

Click **Settings**, then **General** in the **Organisation** section.

**2. Click New**

In **Organisation Workspaces**, click **New**.

**3. Fill in the workspace settings**

Enter the **Workspace name**, and select the **Back office locale**, the **Time zone**, and the **Unit system** (**Metric** or **Imperial**).

**4. Create**

Click **Create**. Qwoty creates the workspace, adds you to it, makes it your current workspace, and opens its **General** settings.

## What the new workspace contains

A new workspace starts with:

* the system roles (`admin`, `manager`, `view_only`, `sale`),
* a default currency based on the locale you selected,
* default quote numbering settings.

Catalogs, pricebooks, templates, customers, and users aren't copied from your other workspaces. Set them up again, or import products and prices with CSV files.
