Product variants let you offer the same base product in different versions, such as size, color, or tier. Each variant has its own name, SKU, prices, and settings, while sharing the parent product’s general information. In Qwoty, you don’t create variants one by one. You pick variant options and values on the product form, then Qwoty generates one variant for every combination.

Prerequisites

  • A role with write access to Products & pricing
  • An existing product (variants are available only after the product is created)
  • At least one variant option with values, created in Products & pricing › Product options. See Manage product options.

Generate variants

Open the product

Go to Products & pricing › Products and open the product.

Open the Variants tab

Click the Variants tab of the product form. It holds the Variant block (variant options and the generated variant list).

Enable variants

Turn on Enable variants.

Choose the variant options

In Variant options, click Add option. For each row:
  • Option: select a variant option (for example, Size)
  • Value: select the values to use (for example, S, M, L)
Repeat Add option for each option you need (for example, Size and Color). Click Save to save the options.

Generate the variants

Click Generate variants. Qwoty warns that variants are generated from all possible combinations. Click Continue to confirm.Qwoty confirms how many variants were generated (for example, “6 variant(s) generated successfully”) and lists them.
Generating variants from 3 sizes and 4 colors creates 12 variants. Plan your options and values before generating.

Edit a variant

The variant list shows Default, Active, Variant, and SKU for each variant.

Open the variant

In the variant list, open the row menu and click Edit.

Update the variant

The variant page has its own tabs:
  • Overview: Name, Reference, Description (or Inherit from product), Default variant, Status
  • Pricing: the variant’s Prices in each pricebook
  • Attributes: custom fields, Shipping, Accounting, Inventory (SKU), and Identifiers
  • Relations: product-to-product relations and components (see Performance and relations)
The Other Variants block lets you jump to the product’s other variants.

Save

Click Save.
When a product has variants, the product-level Attributes, Assets, and Relations tabs are disabled (“These settings are configured at the variant level”). Set them on each variant instead.

Edit the variant options

To change the options used by a product, open the row menu of an option in Variant options and click Edit or Delete, then click Save and generate the variants again. To change the list of available values (for example, add an XL size), edit the variant option in Products & pricing › Product options › Setup Product variant options.

Remove all variants

Turn off Enable variants. Qwoty asks you to confirm Delete variants: “All your variants will be deleted.” Click Confirm to delete every variant of the product.
There is no bulk selection to delete only some variants. Disabling variants deletes all of them.

What happens next

Sales reps choose the variant when they add the product to a quote. The variant’s price comes from the pricebook used by the quote, so make sure each variant has a price. See Create a pricebook. The product’s Performance tab shows results by variant once the product has been sold.

Troubleshooting

Variants are available only after the product is created. Save the product first, then reopen it.
Save at least one variant option first (“Please save at least one variant option before generating variants”), and make sure every row has an option and selected values.
Check that:
  • The variant is active
  • The product is linked to the catalog used by the quote
  • The pricebook used by the quote has a price for this variant
